Summary
Learns and applies the concepts of database applications and programming languages in order to successfully complete projects for TSYS internal and external clients. Reviews, maintains, and updates applications to insure accuracy, completeness, adherence to approved TSYS guidelines. Modifies and integrates applications with current applications and databases to optimize performance.
Responsibilities
As Cognos Developer in the Data Analytics team of TSYS Analytics, you will be responsible to help define and build the web presentation layer of Data Analytics. You will deliver high quality services utilizing Cognos enterprise-wide Business Intelligence tools, including ReportNet, PowerPlay, Impromptu, Cognos Query, and Impromptu Web Reports. You will be expected to help develop the basic framework for Data Analytics, building demonstrations that can be used by sales representatives and then providing customization for each client using the service. You will perform analysis of reporting requirements and implement customization based specific client requirements. You will provide standard and customized Business Intelligence technical training, particularly in the area of client report writing. You will perform start-up services for new customers, including building prototypes and proofs of concept, and leading scoping discussions.
Under little to no supervision, develops and builds applications and/or databases for internal or external clients in a fast-paced or project oriented environment. Attends on-going training classes to gain a broad understanding of current database applications and programming languages. Applies learning skills in database applications and programming languages to TSYS projects of a high complexity and magnitude. Receives business requirements from client via a Business Analyst and successfully builds applications, functions, and processes using programming skills/software. Through new and current technologies, creates databases via a server and front-end applications (interface) using web development tools. Conducts testing, including unit, business analysis, and client testing, (via a pilot site) for accuracy. Maintains tested applications for quality assurance and production support. Enhances understanding of TSYS, software platforms, and the credit card industry through on-going training. Enhances understanding of the company’s project development/management processes, methodology, and demonstrates proficient multitasking skills to successfully complete project management metrics and reporting on TSYS. As needed, professionally communicates with clients on assigned projects as needed. Operates and maintains existing production database applications. Generates ad-hoc and standard reports using existing reporting applications. Participates in disaster recovery projects and events. Enhance existing applications to meet the needs of ongoing efforts within software platforms. Provides input to management regarding the budget of departmental equipment and software requirements. Serves as a mentor to Client Server Software Analyst I and II. Participates in team, department, and division meetings as required. May supervise no more than two level I and/or II team members.
Education/Experience
Four year college degree and 4 or more years professional experience or 6 or more years professional experience is required. A working knowledge of Cognos (Version 8), Visual Basic, C++, JAVA Script or Lotus Notes Development is required. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred. Experience in an analytical, research, or project management environment in the credit card or software industry, or other related environment is preferred.

Ability to think logically

Experienced with Cognos 8 with emphasis on ReportStudio, QueryStudio, Cognos Connect, Framework Manager
RDBMS technology (DB2 preferred)
Strong DB/SQL experience (ability to read/write SQL required)
Experience in data warehousing strongly preferred
Experience in Web/Internet technology, HTML, XML, JAVA, JAVA script, and SOAP experience a plus.
Experience with installation and configuration of Cognos 8 desirable
Experience with Windows and Networking desirable
