Summary
Responsible for implementing and maintaining the vendor supplied mainframe and mid range systems for the TSYS environments. This includes all approved vendor hardware and software for enabling the developmental and operational groups to perform their assigned tasks. Serves as a technical resource for the company and is responsible for resolving issues with the hardware and software used at the TSYS installations.
The Senior System Software Analyst performs assigned tasks to install, maintain, monitor, document, and recover mainframe and mid range systems. Plans functionally defined assignments and goals, actions, and results clearly defined. Evaluation of significant alternatives as well as originality is required at this level. Assists supervisor in providing estimates of work effort and impact of projects and tasks. Assists junior team members in becoming active participants in maintenance functions.
The Senior System Software Analyst has a broad understanding of his/her role in the department and division, the structure of the company, and the corporate culture.
Responsibilities
Installs, maintains, and monitors operating systems software and hardware through formal and informal job training.
Prepares standardized documentation to cover installation, maintenance, and recovery procedures for operating systems, as well as, reported incidents and resolutions according to guidelines and procedures.
Instructs, directs, and checks the work of other Technical Support personnel.
Assumes responsibility for task/project completion in an accurate and timely manner.
Participates in career development, and continues expansion of role as a team player.
Adheres to department practices, standards, policies, procedures, and methodologies.
Applies technical knowledge and skills necessary to complete and document complex projects.
Understands the Technical Support area as it relates to assigned projects/tasks and how the area interacts with other functional areas.
Demonstrates the ability to accept additional responsibility.
Displays initiative and a cooperative attitude.
Education/Experience
Four year college degree and 4 or more years professional experience or 6 or more years professional experience is required. Experience Administering HP servers, Cisco network devices, and VMWare preferred. Experience with Windows Server 2003, and SQL 2005 preferred. Microsoft certification is preferred. Appropriate TSYS experience is preferred.
